Just a few comments on tonight's episode.

Castle..'Love a good perp walk.' )

In cooking news, I added another burn to my hand. I hit it on the very hot oven as I was putting a pizza into it. So now I have a blister and a red stripe. Along with the miscellaneous scratches (that I can't remember/don't know how I got), it looks like my left hand has been involved in some very serious business usually found in a high-violence action-adventure or possibly a low-key slasher movie.

Not the best look after Halloween. I'm just saying.

I made microwave popcorn last night and as I was opening the bag, a flaming chunk of sun-hot butter and salt launched out of the bag and landed on my hand. My reaction time was too slow and now I have a blister on my hand where it landed.

Ya know, I expect to set myself on fire while cooking a routine meal (I never fail to hit the edge of a hot pan with the exposed skin of some extremity), but I really don't think it's fair to be scarred for life by microwave popcorn.

If anyone asks, I got into a fight with a deranged scientist and I acquired this injury from the splashback of throwing acid into his face to save all of humanity.

Popcorn. Really, Universe? Judas.

It was another warm, muggy day today, but I didn't think it was nearly as bad as yesterday. At least the carpet wasn't damp.

Carrie was complaining about melting, she was so hot. I just looked at her and said, "Oh, honey. It's only June. You'll die by August."

She whimpered. I cackled. Going to Hell.

Speaking of Hell, I think it's gonna be a hot summer for us this year. We've gotten off pretty easy the last couple of years.

Today, as well as being a harbinger for things to come, was also a good mail day. Two books that I ordered from Amazon arrived. Excellent timing since I just finished plodding through Peter Straub's Ghost Story and rereading Stephen King's On Writing. I was in need of new stuff.

Both are from Joe Mallozzi's Book of the Month selections. One, Android's Dream by John Scalzi, has already been discussed. Unwelcome Bodies by Jennifer Pelland is one of the upcoming selections. I'm going to read it and attempt to discuss it intelligently with other folks who've read it. We'll see how this works out for me.

I also started rewriting "The Backroom" today. I'm liking it much better now. I think I'm getting more comfortable with the whole "the first draft is supposed to be crap, not perfect" thing. I can work miracles doing rewrites and edits.

Tomorrow, I predict more writing and reading. And it will get hotter.
