I cannot remember the last time I posted here and I suppose that makes me pretty lazy. Most of my life gets documented as it happens on Twitter now.

But this is just a quick post to say that I'm alive, I successfully turned 34, and I will try to post a little more often over here.

I own the place, so I might as well put it to some use.

-This week killed me. I'm tired of being stressed about work and I'm tired of talking about it. I'm tired of dreaming about it.

-I had a blast at the Cornbelters games this past weekend and there might be another game in my immediate future, like Monday. Baseball is my happy place.

-I keep entering contests that would require me to ditch work if I won. Fuck it! Take the bucket! And flyyyy!

-I bought tickets to a Cubs/Reds game in August. I'll be going with Haley, Matt, and Natalie. I joked about taking a Joey Votto voodoo doll to the game, but now I'm seriously considering it. I feel like being a jackass. We hates Joey Votto, precious.

-I haven't watched a Harry Potter movie since the third one, so I'm not going to see Deathly Hallows Part Two: The Slaying of the Boogaloo. However, I hope my Harry Potter loving friends enjoy it.

-I hate it when people piss on other people's good time. We get it! You're so fucking hardcore because you don't like this popular thing! Move the fuck along, buzzkill.

-I'm not going anywhere or doing anything this weekend. I might even go to bed by 9:30 tonight. I feel some sloth coming on.

-Someone remind me to dig my James Russell baseball card from behind my bookcase. I really need a proper shelf.

I have pictures and stories from my road trip to KC, but I've been far too busy/lazy to do anything about it.

I'll do it this weekend.

Maybe.
whiski_sour: (how's my hair?)
I got the job. I go tomorrow to fill out some paperwork and I officially start the gig on Monday. It's a full-time gig, working 7:30 to 4. I hope I can get back into that groove quickly. It's been almost three years since my last real job.

This job brings me a regular paycheck and health insurance. However, now I'm going to have to rearrange my world to accommodate it. I'm going to have to figure out how to work in my exercise routine and my writing and my blogging. Not to mention I'll now be blessed with the job of making dinner after putting in a full shift and spending part of my weekend doing laundry.

It's a good thing I don't have a social life. I wouldn't know where to put it.

I'm also going to go through a certain amount of withdrawl from the Internet, particularly Twitter. And my reruns. I'm really going to miss Hawaii 5-0.

The ability to pay my bills my ease the pain a little bit, though.

What? Three days without a post? Inconceivable! Or some such.

I was going to make a post about Castle last night, but I forgot. And I have a feeling that I'm going to be too lazy to post about NCIS and NCIS: LA tonight. I blame the snow.

Yes, it's snowing yet again. Winter weather warnings and blowing snow advisories and all that. It's not as much as they got out in DC and whatnot, but still enough to suggest that maybe we shouldn't have pointed and laughed at them because Karma is indeed a bitch.

And since I live out in the middle of the cornfield and the winds are gusting up to 20mph, the blowing snow is going to be wicked one you hit the city limits and there's nothing to block the wind. The weather people are suggesting that if you don't have to travel today or tomorrow, then you should just stay home, which the people in this town will translate into "We need to go to as many unnecessary places as possible RIGHT NOW OMG!" and keep the tow truck drivers busy.

I hope the wrecker services have a stupidity fee just to make sure that they get their money's worth.

Meanwhile, I've decided that since everyone else is getting a snow day, I'm taking a snow day from real pants.

I think it's a good plan, anyway.

I got the cutest kitty holiday card in the mail from [livejournal.com profile] luchalibrarian today. Thanks, HF. It really brightened my day. :)

For whatever reason, I am totally drained tonight. Since Castle is a re-run, I'm totally getting into my PJs, making some hot chocolate, and going to bed early tonight instead of writing and making jewelry for my nieces.

Yeah, I say that and I know I will flake out on my obligations, but I bet I still manage to stay up until at least midnight dicking around.

Because that's how I roll.
whiski_sour: (Can you stand on your head?)
I'm going to ask Santa for a bigger bed for Christmas. There's just not enough room for me to lay on my bed and read with three cats, at least not without dirty looks.

Carrie suggested I get bink beds, but they'd only divide then and there still wouldn't be enough room.

Cats are liquid, you know.
whiski_sour: (goddess)
All I did today was dust my room and watch several hours of Ice Road Truckers.

My life could get a lot more interesting, but I don't want it to.

I've only just started the holiday climb.

I need to conserve my energy.

*oozes*

I was so lazy today that I couldn't even get caught up on my reading.

Now that's pretty lazy.

I love football Sundays.

Lazy Sunday

I spent the day reading, watching the Bears win, and the Cubs lose their last game of the season.

Laziness at its finest.
whiski_sour: (Groove)
While I did pretty much nothing of value today (well, I did clean my fan), my sister flew back to Texas. She made it back safely and I'm already looking forward to seeing her again next year. We had a good time while she was here.

In other news, I've caught up on my LJ comments, but not so much on my emails yet. This is not because I'm overly popular, but because I'm overly lazy.

I didn't even bother with real pants today. I was letting my lazy flag fly full on today.

I'll do it tomorrow.

We were supposed to be getting some wicked heat again this weekend, but it seems that it held off a day because the weather was gorgeous today. I sat outside this afternoon for a few hours, reading. It was glorious.

It wasn't until I came in that I realized that it was the first time I'd done that in at least a month. No wonder I'm feeling a little stir crazy. I need to go outside and just sit and relax once in awhile.

Besides, it's August. The nice days are running out quicker than I'd like.
whiski_sour: (Can you stand on your head?)
Today it was hot.
Just moved when necessary.
We're out of ice cream.

...

Not bad since I haven't written a haiku since third grade.
whiski_sour: (considering it)
I'm thinking of changing my LJ layout. I like my Cheshire Cat/Carnivale color layout, but I feel like I need a change.

I've kind of got an idea, but I'm not sold on it yet.

And I'm pretty lazy at the moment.

We'll see how that works out for me.
whiski_sour: (Cocktail?)
I'm terrible about following up on things in my LJ.

I post about situations and people and pains, and then fail to follow up with any kind of resolution.

So, if there's anything I've posted about recently (or for those of you in it for the long haul, years ago) that you feel I've neglected to tie up the loose ends on, then by all means, call me out on it.

In future, I'll try to be more conclusive with the events from my life that aren't wrapped up in a nice little bow by the end of the post, but I can't make any promises because I'm lazy and I can be a bitch about change.

For the record, all of this came about because my shoulder is hurting me again (it never really healed from whatever I did to it last year) and how something is always hurting and it's the nature of my business and then I remembered that I whined about my jaw hurting, but never made a post to say that as mysteriously as the pain came and worsened, it went away.

In conclusion, my jaw is fine now.

Bet you didn't see this particular ending coming, did you?

I'm working on uploading my video clips of the storms that went through yesterday to YouTube.

Let us keep in mind that my computer was carved out of magical rocks by the Ancients and my Internet hookup is some string and a couple of tin cans.

Not to mention that Gringo isn't fond of pronouns (YouTube, MySpace, etc.).

This could take awhile. I'm just saying.

In other news...there is no other news. I pretty much maintained bum status all day.

And I'm not ashamed of it.
whiski_sour: (jedi)
I'm cleaning up and defragging Gringo so I'm updating from the laptop while watching Simpsons. Taking a break from the Golden Girls marathon.

Yeah, the computer thing is pretty much the only thing I've done today and it's pretty much doing itself.

That's a Sunday well spent.
whiski_sour: (stuck on stupid)
Time change tonight. Springing ahead. What clock will I forget to change?

-Alarm clock
-Watch I wear all the time
-Watch I wear sometimes
-VCR/DVD player
-Cell phone (if it doesn't automatically update...I can't remember if it does or not)

I left out my computer because it does change automatically, and the microwave. I'm not allowed to play with the buttons on the microwave.

My money is on the VCR/DVD player. My track record is pretty consistant when it comes to time change fail with that device.

I probably should have made this a poll.

I'm too lazy to make a poll.

I'm eating Combos.
whiski_sour: (Where's mah brain? (_hellfire))
I've had a headache since I woke up this morning. Nothing has helped it. I think my brain dribbled out my ears about four hours ago. So basically I spent my Saturday laying around, trying to read, and watching NCIS and M*A*S*H marathons.

Carrie, however, was a little more productive than I. She did all the confirmation stuff for our flights for DragonCon.

She's a damn fine personal assistant.
whiski_sour: (listen to the music)
Today was a symphony in getting very little writing done. I managed to make a few pages worth of progress on "In the Dark" and that's about it.

I'm not motivated to do much right at the moment. The wind is out of my sails, so to speak.

I did enjoy a nice thunderstorm this afternoon, though. Carrie and I stood in the garage to watch the lightening. It lit up the sky pretty good.

At least the day wasn't a total slothful adventure.
