Carrie and I went to Bloomington today. I needed to go through my sister's pictures, which were at Mom's house (looking for high school pictures for my sister's class reunion...if it wasn't for Mimzie and Haley, I wouldn't be doing it), and Carrie wanted to get a couple of new books.
Carrie took Hammie and Hobbit with her to the bookstore, which was fortunate since both girls know their way around the city better than Carrie does. They were showing her all the good shortcuts to get across town.
Smurf stayed at the house and helped me sort through pictures. She was excellent help; no picture was missed thanks to her. She could have done a little better keeping my piles straight though.
As per usual, a good time was had by all.
Smurf: *upon Carrie's and my arrival* This is my new skirt and I have a new bathing suit and it has Ariel on it and it's blue and I wore it yesterday.
Me: That's fantastic. Hi to you, too.
Me: Whose macaronicheese is this?
Hammie: Mine.
Me: Why is it cooling on the desk?
Hammie: I can't it eat it. It's too cheesy.
Me: Uh, it's macaronicheese. It's supposed to be cheesy.
(The girls are homeschooled)
Me: How's school going?
Hobbit: Good.
Me: Is your teacher mean?
Hobbit: *laughs and rolls eyes* No.
Later
Me: How's school going?
Hammie: Okay.
Me: Is your teacher mean?
Hammie: Yes!
Smurf: (about my stepdad) He doesn't take care of the fish. He's mean to them.
Me: What does he do? Call them names?
(She never answered. For the record, the whole thing came out of nowhere; no one had mentioned the fish, so I don't know why she brought it up.)
(at the bookstore, Hammie sees a World of Warcraft book and Hammie just happens to love World of Warcraft)
Hammie: Tell me I'm not blind. Tell me I'm not blind. Tell me I am seeing that.
Hobbit: You're not blind.
Smurf: I want to wear my new swimsuit.
Mom: No. It's hanging up in the basement. You can wear it all day tomorrow if you want. I don't care.
Smurf: *starts to go down the basement*
Mom: You can't reach it.
Smurf: *goes down the basement, comes up a minute later* (accusingly) I can't reach it.
I know there was more, but my brain is tired. Those girls wear me out.
It's a satisfied exhaustion.
