I spent most of my afternoon and evening editing "Laundry" and "At 3:36".
I wrote "Laundry" years ago and decided it was good enough to pull out, dust off, and rewrite. I did all that and decided it needed another go round of editing because there's something just not clicking for me. I made a few more changes and it's better, but I'm not sure it's done yet.
"At 3:36" needed some major cuts. The premise of the story necessitates some length, but I have the nagging feeling it's just too wordy. So I did some chopping and ended up rewriting a scene that's been bothering me. It just didn't gel as well with the rest of the story. I think I've fixed it and I think I've pruned much of the bulk, but I won't be sure until I get it typed up and take a look at it later.
That's two more things I can scratch off my To Do list. This whole setting deadlines thing was a good idea.
Until I hit the deadline for "In the Dark" and realize I suck.
