The word of the day is random
Aug. 24th, 2006 11:06 pmI don't want to talk about work right now. Work right now gives me the rage and the rage gives you cancer. A tumor right now would just make me more cranky.
Pluto's not a planet any more. I would be sad about that, but all I can think is how I'll now be able to say to younger people, "When I was your age, we had a planet named after a cartoon dog". Of course, there may be some confusion about what cartoon dog, but I'll clear that right up when I tell them that Walt Disney's chryogenically frozen head is going to come and eat them in their sleep.
I stole this meme from
almostnever. I don't think she'll mind. If she does, she may stalk and kill me at her leisure.
1. Post a list of 10 books/movies/TV shows that you've had a fannish love of at some time in your life.
2. Have your friends guess your favourite character from each one.
3. You can cross out the show/movie/book and put the character when someone guesses.
1.A-Team Murdock as guessed by
hobbitgal and
one_more_cherry
2.Laverne and Shirley Squiggy as guessed by
sockmonkeyblues
3.CSI: Miami Frank as guessed by
hobbitgal
4. Star Trek: The Next Generation
5. Oz
6.Night Court Selma as guessed by
one_more_cherry
7.Numb3rs Larry as guessed by
winged_fire
8.The Disc World Series Rincewind as guessed by
winged_fire
9. Star Trek
10.Hellboy Hellboy as guessed by
hobbitgal and
one_more_cherry
Doing this made me realize that while I have had fannish love for many things over the years, I don't have a lot that I've had a definite favorite character.
Oh and I decide to make this really hard by throwing in some really old shows that I know I've never talked about with my friends. Good luck with that.

Date: 2006-08-25 04:53 am (UTC)My mom had a huge crush on Worf, though. It was really bizarre to watch a grown woman with whom I share DNA lust after a Klingon.

Date: 2006-08-25 09:50 am (UTC)Hrrm - 1 = Murdoch, of course. You heard Michael's playing him in the A-Team movie remake? Our fandoms are groping each other again...
4 = Hah ha -Q? *spreads the John DeLancie love*
6 = *night court ee!!* I will guess Roz or Harry. You feel like a Harry girl, for he brings the wit, but Roz brings it, too. My second guess is Dan for bringing the snark. *is a Christine Girl*
10 = Hellboy, for you have beanie Hellboy somewhere about.

Date: 2006-08-25 03:46 pm (UTC)I love Q. Really, I do. But, alas, he was not my favorite (though I marked for every episode he was in).
Night Court was a snarky show. Heh. Love me some snark. But, alas, no, Roz, Dan, and Harry aren't my favorites. This is the really tough one.
Did not hear that news about Michael. I am amused.

Date: 2006-08-27 12:32 am (UTC)Hmm - Christine? Either that or it's one of the two earlier (and sadly now late) female balifs. Or that homeless guy who was Dan's sidekick whose name I sadly cannot recall...
I DIED when I heard that. Who the heck's going to play B.J? Can Mister T just come back and play him again, plz? He's barely aged.

Date: 2006-08-28 04:31 pm (UTC)I'm curious as to where you got this information from about Michael. I've not heard anything about him even being considered for it.

Date: 2006-08-28 11:55 pm (UTC)I actually heard the rumor on that great bastion of credibility, imdb.com. I've seen it pop up as confirmed news on other message boards. Has anything been confirmed, outside of there being a remake, period? If it has and what I've said was wrong, feel free to smother me with alaskan huskies *chuckles*. I have nothing concrete, otherwise.

Date: 2006-08-29 03:24 am (UTC)I do know that a movie is in the works. Still preproduction stages, I think. However, casting is still up in the air. I keep hearing that they won't recast the original roles because it would be too difficult to do.
I would find it amusing if Michael did get cast as Murdock because the reason for the recasting would be because the original cast is considered too old and Michael is actually older than Dwight Schultz.

Date: 2006-08-31 01:05 am (UTC)You know, I'd love to see that movie come out in a full original cast. It'd be awesome.
And the funny thing is that Michael also LOOKS older than Dwight Schultz.

Date: 2006-09-03 12:53 am (UTC)Right on Numb3rs, though. Of course, I have professed my Larry-love to you before.
I have several favorite characters in Discworld (how can you have only one?!), but Rincewind is definitely one of them, so I'll take it. (Also: Death, Granny Weatherwax, Sam Vimes, and Vetinari.)
