Stalking the UPS man
Jan. 31st, 2006 03:24 pmYesterday, after school and before work, I took a nap. Dad was awake in the living room. Somehow, the UPS man managed to knock on the door and nobody heard it. So he left us his UPS post-it note saying he'd return the next day as he needed a signature for the package he was trying to deliver.
The existance of this package had Dad and I confused. He didn't remember ordering anything that required a signature (the only thing he orders of that nature is ammo and he has that delivered to the office because there's always someone there to sign for it). He didn't remember ordering anything period. I mused that it might be from
hobbitgal because she said she'd be sending me something.
However, that night I spoke with Carrie and she said she hadn't sent anything yet. Interesting.
So, I spent my morning and afternoon today stalking the UPS man. Waiting patiently, ears alert to the sound of knocking on the backdoor so I wouldn't miss him again. This involved me rushing through a shower and keep a shirt handy during yoga in case he showed up.
A little after 1:30, I caught my prey, who informed me that Dad needs to sign for his uzies. Heh. Anyway, the package wasn't for Dad. It was for me.
Now, I told you that story to tell you this story. Remember a few months ago...okay, like October, I said it was entirely possible that I won a CSI:Miami DVD from TV Guide because I knew Don Cheadle was on Golden Palace? Okay, well, I figured I'd probably get it in December (had to wait until the contest ended at the end of October and then six to eight weeks for delivery). December came and went and I forgot about the DVD.
Until this morning, when I was speculating about what the package was. I thought perhaps it was my elusive DVD win and it would make sense that I'd have to sign for that. However, when I got the package, I thought it was pretty big for one damn DVD.
I ripped open the end of the box and dumped out the contents and then proceeded to squeal with such enthusiasm that Stella took off hell bent for the other room and Pete looked at me like the annoying human that I am.
Not only did I get CSI:Miami season 3, but I also got CSI season 5 and CSI:NY season 1.
I now know exactly how I'm going to be spending my weekend off.
