So, for our first speech we have to do an interview. We paired up and started to get to know our partners so we can be able to structure an interview speech.

I paired up with the guy who sits next to me, Frank. Nice guy (cute guy), but we are in a world of trouble. Frank doesn't think he's interesting and doesn't do well when put on the spot and I'm not a social person so questions don't naturally form in my mind and I don't work well with others.

I'll be starting early in pulling shit out of my ass this semester.

I have trouble expressing myself verbally sometimes. My brain and mouth aren't always in sync and I have an unfortunate tendency not to think how someone else might interpret what I say so usually end up coming off as vaguely insulting, insensitive, harsh, and aloof when I'm not meaning to be (though, I mean to be quite often).

During this getting to know you process, Frank asked me what my achievements were (it was a suggestion on the outline). Well, I'm 26, I work at Wal-Mart, still live at home, haven't even gotten an associates degree, and I'm not sure if I've got the stamina to follow my education through to the master's degree I need in my particular field. I'd say my biggest achievement so far is not getting knocked up. Let's not bring that up during the interview, shall we?

It was also a suggestion on the outline to bring up great or terrible moments in life. The first thing that came to my mind was driving through a tornado to get to a bar. It was great because not many people can say they did that (maybe that's my achievement?). It's terrible because that was the first thing that popped into my head and I'm likely not to come up with something better.

This entire speech is going to do nothing more than expose just what a boring, do-nothing person I really am. I realize I've fooled you all, but it's time for you to face the harsh reality. I'm not an exciting person. I just play one on tv.

Also, a correction to my last post. As I was perusing through my Monkees CD collection I realized, among several anthologies and greatest hits and missing links volumes, I'm also missing Instant Replay, which they didn't have at Best Buy anyway.

And, Changes is on backorder. I hope that doesn't stop them from sending out Once Again. I'm really looking forward to listening to that one.

It's in the small victories, my friend...
