First of all, note to self: No more watching Food Network before you go to sleep. Dreaming about Alton Brown stuffing a turkey leads to bad places.

I didn't sleep worth shit last night, which was unfortunate since I spent all day with the nieces and could have used the energy.

First stop was the mall, where Hammie and Hobbit got their Christmas pictures taken. Hobbit was quite reluctant to smile, even when Hammie prodded her and said, "Make smile, Teagie!" We did manage to get a couple of good pictures out of the trip though. Then, after wandering around the mall to kill time before lunch, we got in the car and headed back to Mummy's. Yeah, once we got in the car, Hobbit wouldn't stop grinnin' until she fell asleep. Onery little kid.

Then it was lunch and a nap. Once Hammie got up, we headed to the movie.

For those of you in the know, I've taken Hammie to the movies before (in May to see Shrek 2). Today we saw The Incredibles.

As we did in May, Hammie and I got there early, got popcorn and a soda, and took our seats. Eventually, the lights went down and Hammie got very excited because she loves previews.

The first trailer was for The Polar Express and the opening of it involved a bird swooping down and catching a ticket or something in its beak. Hammie saw this and immdediately turned to me and asked "Is this Lord of the Rings?" No, kid, it's not.

Second trailer was for Sponge Bob which had her squealing with delight and I had to remind her to be quiet (a request that was repeated several times during the course of our theater adventure).

Third trailer was for some Tim Allen Christmas movie. The only thing that caught Hammie's attention was the Christmas tree, which she then proceed to tell me all about the one she had.

Fourth trailer was for Epidsode III. The kid was slack-jawed and riveted. When it was over she turned to me and goes "Kiki, what happened?" I told her we'd watch the originals first, as they are the good ones.

After two short cartoons, we finally got the damn movie. Honestly, how in the hell do they expect a kid to sit through that?

The movie was good. Hammie liked it. I liked what I saw of it (we had to make two trips to the bathroom which involved her running down the hall yelling "HURRY! WE'RE MISSING THE SHOW!"). However, the biggest laugh came not at the movie, but at my niece.

At one point, Mr. Incredible dents his car and as a result, his door will not stay shut. My niece then loudly says what we're all thinking: "SON OF A BITCH!" The guy in the same row as us nearly choked on his soda laughing. Naturally, I quietly reprimanded my niece and told her not to say son of a bitch. After I quit laughing, of course.

After the movie, we ventured back to Mummy's, where we ate pizza and told her all about the movie (Mummy nearly pissed herself at the "son of a bitch" incident").

Hobbit hung on me for awhile and spit a blue M&M at me. Hammie told me to come back tomorrow, but I told her I couldn't because I had to go to school. She told me I could go to her school. Nice offer, but I don't think discussing criminology would really be happening with a bunch of kids under five.

Now I'm home. I need to type up my criminology paper (I wrote it out long hand while watching tv over the weekend...that's the extent of my multitasking abilities) and work on the Nano, but I reallly wanna do that sleep thing instead.

We'll see how that works out.

*dies!* Ah, things only Hammie would do.

Come on, you know you want to reinact a bloody crime scene with stuffed Care Bears...
