Alien Vs Predator...It's no beauty contest

winged_fire and I saw Alien Vs Predator tonight. Both of us give it two thumbs up and a must-own-on-DVD-for-shits-and-giggles card.


The movie had a lot of good things about it. Alot of the violence done early in the film, especially when commited by the Aliens, was done quickly so you got the whole feeling of "holy shit, what the hell just happened?" even though you're familiar with the Aliens' MO. That was very cool.

The pyramid these people are traipsing around in does this shifting thing that leaves you disoriented, confused, lost, and claustrophobic. I loved that.

The storyline, though kinda simple, is actually kinda interesting in a way. And, if you take the previous Predator and Alien movies into account, it actually kinda plays into the canon, which is also very cool. Someone did their homework, which I appreciate very much.

I'm probably the only person in our theater that got the Lance Henriksen connection. I may be a dork, but I fucking rule.

However, the movie was not without it's cheese. There's a couple of Matrix-style moments that really weren't necessary. The anatomy of the face huggers is questionable (you've got to see the movie to believe me on that). And, I'm fairly sure during the last fifteen minutes of the movie, gorganzola was growing on the walls. You'll understand if you see it.


Best movie related moment of the night...Some dood rather loudly saying, "Oh, Charlie!" when a Predator dies.

And now to play mah jongg until my brain turns to goo. Should take about twenty minutes.
