Sometimes I wonder

I'll be reading LJs or talking to people online and they'll be like, "I gotta get off of here, it's storming" and it's like, on one level I get that they're taking a precaution, ya know? But, then this small part of me goes, "wimp." I rarely ever get off the computer during storms and have been known to play Word Whomp during tornados (okay, in my defense, I didn't know there was an actual tornado down the road from my house...I've become rather desensitized to tornado sirens here, if you couldn't tell).

And, to continue with my randomness...

Proof I'm not a good writer:

In one of my original stories, the layout of an old, remodeled mansion is key. I've not yet decided on the final layout of said mansion. In the point of the story where the layout of said mansion is to be discussed I typed "Layout description goes here" and went on to the next action scene.

See. Totally bad writer.

I'm in the MidWest, which is being rocked with storms lately. I was talking online to danachan the other night, going, "Ooh! Lightning! It's striking really close to the house! Ooh! Weird color the sky is, tonight. Kinda...greenish? Damn, apocalypse." And she says..."Maybe you should get offline, Air?"

Me: If I get offline, it's because the power's dead and lighting struck my computer and fried it.
Her: ...this is that MidWestern logic, isn't it?

My father still yells at me for being online at midnight of New Year's 2000. He says I could have destroyed the world. I love my dad.

Ah, yes. Good ol' MidWestern logic. I live in the MidWest, too. I live in a town that when the tornado siren goes off, if it's not raining, the people on my block go outside. The only way I've ever been able to explain it to people who don't live in tornado alley is...we don't panic until it's in the front yard.

My new excuse for everything that goes wrong in my life. It was because you were on your computer at midnight New Year's 2000.

There was a siren going off a few days ago, and the neighbor was mowing his lawn. I didn't think anything of it until you mentioned it. After all, we couldn't see a tornado, so--no worries. Right?

Yeah, our logic is probably not earth logic. But I've been dead-free for almost 25 years, so I must be incredibly lucky doing something right.

I'm with you on that. I haven't died yet, so I take that as a good sign.
