Let's not muck about...
Who geeked at Ford? I geeked at Ford. I was more spoiler free than I thought. I didn't know he was going to be there. And without his wonky, Cookie Monster eyeball, too! Well done.

Overall, I enjoyed the episode. Not a bad premier. I really wasn't that invested with the Teyla-baby storyline, but it wrapped it up nicely and the pacing was good. Loved some of the dialogue. Rodney delivering Teyla's baby was fantastic.

Carter leaving is kind of a bring down. I liked her. And I'm sure people will call her exit lame, but it's plausible. It's so very "the head office decided this because they must justify their paychecks" kind of thing. In the end, it's probably nothing against Carter, but these people are paid to wear ties and be pains in the ass.

However, I am looking forward to Woolsey in Atlantis because a)that should be some fun conflict and b)Robert Picardo makes me happy.

I do have some nitpicks. And probably not the typical fan nitpicks.

I realize Sheppard has this really dominate hero complex going on, but, seriously, he's injured enough to require surgery but let's have him go on the mission because, dammit, he really wants to.

What? No. He's injured. It's not like he can physically force himself into it. Laws, poke him in the side with a stick and he's down for the count. His rampant masculinity and desire to save people are very admirable, but not a threat. Dart him and move on.

I'm guessing this was supposed to illustrate his loyalty to his friends and his severe dedication to his team, but really, it made him look like a selfish ass and made everyone else look thoughtless and weak for letting him go. The same thing could have been accomplished with less assy-ness if Keller had just sedated him and fung shued his organs against his will while he was out.

Judas, they made Ronan sit out a game just because he had a chunk of glass in his shoulder. C'mon now.

The other nitpick is Teyla's labor and delivery.

You never see a realistic birth. No two labors are the same, I know, but what you see on the screen is just much too neat. There's no placenta or accidental defecation. Hell, my sister puked through all three of her kids' births. And it's always very quick. You don't see the progression of the labor. You don't get a labor pain and pop a kid. If that were true, my mother wouldn't still be hanging my birth over my head.

I realize there are time-constraints and whatnot and it ups the dramatic tension by having Teyla give birth on the hive ship, but still, I'd have loved it if she went into labor on the hive ship and had the kid a day later in the infirmary.

That all said, I liked the episode (the Lorne snark almost made up for the lack of Zelenka...almost). But then, there was gunfire and explosions and snark and that makes me happy.

I'm easy to please.
