Apple and Pork Day 2
Sep. 27th, 2009 06:36 pmHad a great time today. Carrie and I took the tram down to the Homestead grounds and wandered around the flea market for a bit. I bought another wire ring. I got one last year from the same vender and just love it. Three dollars well spent.
We came back up the hill in search of food. We ended up getting a couple of the last few pieces of apple cake before it sold out. It was really good, especially since you could add your own icing.
After the cake, we went in search of an entree. We settled on a really good pulled pork sandwich and ate while listening to The Neverly Brothers play. They were awesome. If you like rockabilly, you'd love them. They put on a great show.
After going through the museum gift shop, talking to DaLette and Jessika at the mansion, and getting Carrie a ceramic cup, we decided it was time to wrap it up. We went through one more craft tent, got some apple doughnuts, checked out the tomahawk throwing (we would have hung around there a little longer but there was some crazy dude wandering around making things a little awkward), and headed home.
We walked down Center street instead of taking the tram because we both wanted a lemon shake-up and I had promised my aunt that I'd stop by her booth. I told Carrie she could take the tram, but she chose to tough it out.
I've made the Center street walk to and from the Homestead since I was a kid. Back in my day, we didn't have no tram. That walk always felt so long. Today, despite being tired from all of the walking we did, was the shortest it ever felt.
I guess that means I'm finally growing up.
