I got an email from my former high school classmate that organized our 10 year reunion saying that we'll be doing fundraisers once a year so we won't have to rush to raise money for our 15 year reunion.
First of all, our class rushing to raise money is a tradition. We did it for prom, we did it for senior trip, we can do it for reunions.
Second of all, 15 year reunion?
It was my understanding that I would only be avoiding these awkward class get togethers in uncomfortable places every ten years. I think doing it every five years is a bit excessive.
And, considering how many of my classmates still live in our hometown and see each other regularly AND many of them work for the same company, I think it's a little ridiculous to organize a shindig every five years to guilt the people who left into coming home and feeling out of step because they're not up on all of the current gossip.
I think we should only have them every ten years. Give people time to forget each other's names in order to make the name tags worth the money, ya know?
