Happy Father's Day

My sister attempted to call Dad to wish him a happy Father's Day. He didn't answer, so she left him a voice mail. Then she texted me to make sure he got it.

Dad hadn't got it yet because his cell phone is older than I am (actually, through carbon dating we figured it's about ten years old) and sometimes his phone is slow to show that he has a voice mail.

This led to a text conversation between me and Mimzie about why Dad hasn't gotten a new cell phone. It basically boils down to the fact that he's old and stubborn, probably couldn't work the newer phones, and doesn't want to change his plan because he's only paying like 35 bucks a month for service because, as Mimzie said, he got that plan back when "people were still killing things with rocks".

Finally, Mimzie's voice mail showed up on Dad's phone and I let her know that he got it.

After all of this, I asked Dad if he called Papa. Dad said he did, but Papa didn't answer. So I emailed Papa the following...

Dad says Happy Father's Day. He tried to call you, but you didn't answer. Don't feel bad, though. Mimzie tried to call Dad, but he didn't answer. I think it's genetic.

I'm glad we don't do anything special for Father's Day. We can't even manage phone calls; I don't think we could hash out anything more difficult.
