Mom surprised me with a phone call this morning informing me that she was bringing down the nieces and she'd like Carrie to help her pick out some new make-up.

Cue me scrambling to get in the shower (I hadn't done yoga or belly dancing yet...kiss my exercise goodbye) and wake up a very grumpy Carrie ("Why should I have to deal with your mother? She gave birth to you." "Well, then, you never should have married me").

The girls played with Frankie through the cage, hid stuff in my closet, got goldfish crackers everywhere, petted Spot, played ball outside, and inspected the damage to my father's jeep that incured last Thanksgiving when my sister hit a deer.

We then walked over to Walgreens and while Carrie helped Mom pick out make-up, the girls and I looked at nail polish and lipstick. They have a talent for picking out the most garrish, horrific colors. "I like this lipstick." "Honey, it's orange. You can't rock that until your 90."

Hammie tried all of the perfume testers on herself. Oh, yeah, it was powerful stuff. I told Mom to roll down a window on the way home to air her out.

They were actually very well behaved. Aside from one little squabble between Hobbit and Smurf, they were ladies and put everything they got out to look out back where it went.

The girls left shortly after we walked home.

It was a good visit, even though it threw off the rhythm of my day a bit. Didn't exercise, but did get some little writing things done.

Mom said it's our turn to go visit them. I promised to take the girls to the zoo. That's always a good time.
