Out of five rats (Zero, Frodis, Ditty, Shorty, and Frankie), there have only been two rat bites. Zero bit Dad (Zero was sick and dying and Dad startled him...Zero felt bad about it and so did Dad). And Frankie bit Carrie today.

She was moving his tube (he's got a blue tube and a wooden box), thinking he was in his box because she didn't see his tail hanging out of the tube. Turns out he was in the tube. Now he either was startled or he thought her finger was food because she'd just fed him. Either way, there was chompage.

Carrie comes into the kitchen, tells me that Frankie just bit her, and proceeds to wash her finger off in the sink. I laugh at her, as a good friend does, and go back to doing my online thing. She says it's bleeding a lot. I snort. She asks me for a paper towel. I get up and get her one. Yeah, she was bleeding.

"I think I got blood in your living room."

She said it as though there's never been blood spilt in my house. Christmas Eve 2004 is still my favorite.

I tell her to put pressure on it and go sit in the living room. I'll be in to bandage it in a few minutes (give it some time to stop bleeding). After two minutes she calls for me then staggers into the dining room.

"I don't feel good."
"Well, go sit down before you fall down."

She goes. I tell her to hold her finger over her head.

"I'm going to throw up."
"No, you're not."

I get the Neosporin and a band aid and go to the living room. Carrie pulls the paper towel off of her finger and squeezes the bite.

"Look. You can see the fat in my finger. I'm going to need stitches."
"Bullshit. You don't need stitches. Lemme put on a band aid. If it doesn't stop bleeding in fifteen minutes, I'll super glue it closed."
"You can't super glue it!"
"Oh, sure. We do it all the time."

So I bandaged her up and we wait. After about fifteen minutes, I pulled off the band aid to check her wound. Okay, I tried to pull off the band aid. Apparently, this one had industrial strenght adhesive on it.

The major blood flow had stopped and there was a nice bruise forming around it, but it didn't look too horrible. I bandaged her up again and told her to keep an eye on it.

At one point we thought I was going to have to super glue it because Carrie said it wasn't staying closed with the band aid, but either she forgot about it or it got better.

The best part about all of this? Carrie talked to her mother right after all of this happened. Not only did her mom ask her why she was poking rats, but she also backed up the super glue. Thanks, Carrie's mom!

I'm going to hell. Heh.
