I am my own mother
Jul. 15th, 2008 10:17 pmI woke up this morning and realized I've got ten days until my self-imposed due date for "In the Dark" rewrites. My poor concept of time kicks my ass yet again.
I accomplished nearly five pages of work on it in a few hours. I was too easily distracted by researching markets for the short stories I've got completed or nearly completed. It was hot. There were wombats. I used every justification I could think of for why I'm not making progress on this.
Part of it is because beginnings are always hard for me. Part of it is because it's a lot of work and I just want it to be done. I'm like that with most rewrites (moreso here because I'm literally rewriting the whole thing...only keeping the main characters and a few scenes).
These are things I'm just going to have to get over and I've decided to do it with tough love. I am not going to see Hellboy II until this rewrite is finished.
I know some of you are laughing, but I really won't go see it if I fail to make my deadline. Excuses are just excuses and somehow I learned to be responsible for my actions and to accept the consequences for what I do or don't do. There's really more at stake than just a movie here, but the movie is a more tangible goal and instant gratification.
Yes, I'm warped. What are you? New?
