I spent most of my afternoon/evening working on writing projects. Well, as much as an inherently lazy person who has to stop every two hours to ice their shoulder and has cats who must lay on whatever they're reading can work.
"Woman's Work" has undergone yet another title change to "Such a Pretty Face" and is finished with the final polishes. It's come a long way in a year (when it was first known as "Just Cause") and I really think this is the best this story can be. I'm sending it off to a competition. I don't think it will win, but I'm hoping it will at least place in the top 100 and I'll be able to redeem myself a little bit from the piece of shit I sent in last year.
I think I've found a magazine that I can submit "Spillway" to. It's nothing major, but it pays and it would be a credit. The only problem is that the story is 800+ words over the limit. I'm going to try to cut the excess (and already have cut about 300 words), but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it and still have a story. If I can't, I'll try shopping it somewhere else.
I've got plans for "Hillbilly Hunt" (which is done with the exception of a final polish) and the untitled story I'm currently writing. "The Backroom" needs major rewrites before I can even think about doing anything with it.
I've got other plans and strategies and whatnot for other projects I'm working on as well. I'm very good at thinking things up, I just need the follow through and the guts to implement them. This is my shot and I have to take it. It's now or never time.
I've dreamed long enough.
