Oh sure, yeah, I can do that
Mar. 30th, 2008 11:29 pmAs I've said, I'm cooking a lot more since I'm jobless. I won't be getting my own cooking show any time soon, but I'm not too bad either. I'm decent. I'm improving. I'm getting used to it.
However, the cosmos likes to keep me humble. I can make fish tacos and chicken fajitas. My steak bowls are a weekly favorite. Chicken and rice and taco mac are old school standbys that I've been making for years. And yet tonight, I fucked up pancakes.
I didn't even make them from scratch. I used a box mix and couldn't get the batter consistancy right; it was too thin. I said, "fuck it, I'll eat it" and cooked up a batch.
Yeah, I can't flip a pancake properly if the batter is too thin. It'd flip, kinda. Not all the way, but most of the way most of the time. Then I'd try to fix it and that didn't work.
What I got was tasty pancakes that weren't very pretty. It looked like someone with no motor skills and an anger management problem decided to cook.
I can only hope the food gods have been appeased and I don't set myself on fire tomorrow trying to make dinner.
On a completely unrelated note, I didn't finish "Spillway" this weekend like I had hoped because I was too busy reading. I am happy to report that I've finally finished one of the books in the large stack that's growing next to my bed.
