This has been a busy week and it's not over...
I checked Dell as soon as I got to Mom's this afternoon. It informs me that my laptop has been shipped and the estimated arrival date at my house is 6/29. I could very well be back in Internet business by next week! Huzzah!
I think it'll be a little longer before I can acquire a desktop, though. It all depends on when my stepdad gets his new computer and last I heard, that was around 7/6. Mom's not aware of a change in that date.
Stepdad's new computer shipped today, so it looks like I'll be getting my desktop next week, too. Hot damn! I feel like i'm on a roll.
The teller job didn't work out.
The interview went well, but an aspect of the job that I didn't know about until I was in the interview is sales. They sell their services and they're really big on it. Tellers have to get a certain about of referrals in a day (part-timers only have to get one). Unfortunately, I am not a good salesman and I'm not really charasmatic enough to be one. Any time I've done it before, it's always made me uncomfortable. An uncomfortable salesman is not a good salesman and I don't want to waste their time or mine.
So, it's back to the employment drawing board.
Yes. I finally broke down and saw The A-Team yesterday with Carrie. What can I say? I still stand firm on not giving any money to horror remakes, but I will make allowances for the TV remakes.
The A-Team is one of my favorite shows (as anyone who's played the home game would know by my ramblings a few years back) and I was really worried going in that it wouldn't be done any justice.
My worries were for naught. I loved it. It's a fun movie. It works for newcomers and die hard fans. It updated it without going to far into either parody or serious business territory. There were a lot of winks and nudges (the cameos after the credits were fun) and some of the storyline was taken from the series (a lot of the General Morrison stuff is straight from the beginning of Season Five). My biggest concern was who they'd get to play to take over the role of Murdock because he is my absolute favorite and I think Dwight Schultz set the bar incredibly high. Sharlto Copley did beautifully. He did Murdock justice, honored Dwight's portrayal (I think anyway), but made the character his own. I think he and Dwight Schultz could open a very successful Crazy Murdock Academy.
Actually, I was kind of WTF? over all of the casting choice for the team, but they all did a great job. They captured the spirit of the original characters and the essence of the chemistry, but did it all with their own spin.
Do I have nitpicks? Sure. Jessical Biel was, as I feared, miscast, but she wasn't so horrible that she stuck out like a brunette at a blonde convention. It was just obvious why she was cast. I think they probably should have gone with someone a little older and little more convincing as an army captain.
Also, there was kissing in my violence (not as much as I'd feared, though) and we all know how much my eight year old inner boy hates that.
In conclusion, I will own this when it comes out on DVD and I hope they make a sequel.
I don't understand how The Karate Kid did better opening weekend than The A-Team. It really is the perfect summer movie. Funny, action packed, and there's no thinking required.
It's supposed to be hot as hell tomorrow (heat advisory in effect because the heat indices are going to hit 100) and my aunt has organized a family outing to see my great-aunt's horses and Haley and Diana want us to go out to their camp site to hang out.
These are two things that don't sound too pleasant in excessive heat. I'm just saying.
