whiski_sour: (you love me)
Spent my day celebrating my success at avoiding death for another year. I'm glad to be 33. I like three's. This feels lucky to me.

I spent the day indulging in my favorites. I ended up watching Halloween (1978) and The Fog (1980) (the latter courtesy of Carrie; she got me that and a Funko POP Usula doll for my birthday); an episode of The A-Team ("Bad Day at Black Rock"); an episode of MST3K ("Night of the Blood Beast"); two episodes of my current TV infatuation, Emergency! ("Virus" and "Breakdown"); and closed it out with an episode of The Monkees ("I Was a Teenage Monster"). I also watched Svengoolie (Island of Lost Souls) and finished reading Dead Until Dark.

It was a fabulous, relaxing, indulgent day. I appreciated every minute of it.

I'll do all of my partying next weekend at Cubs Con.

Carrie and I went to see the girls today. Always a fun time. My stepdad worked on recruiting Carrie into World of Warcraft. Apparently, the whole family plays.

It was a nice day so there was a lot of outside time. The girls, Mom, and I went for a walk. I saw a cute guy with a mohawk and a motorcyle in his living room. When I commented on his asthetic appeal, Hammie questioned my sanity. I guess she likes 'em preppy. Of course she's seven. She might grow out of it.

Hobbit wants to play softball. This pleases me so much. I played ball as a kid. I'd love to teach her how and pass on some of my knowledge that doesn't involve bloodshed or minions.

Smurf and Hobbit both got their hair cut off. While Hobbit's hair looks like it's model after a young Elizabeth Taylor, Smurf's hair is just boyish and short. She has such hair issues. She doesn't like anyone to mess with it. She doesn't like it to touch her shirt. And if it sticks up, it distresses her and she says she looks like a woodcock.

No, I've never heard a four year old make that kind of comparison either, but Smurf really does like animals and they do go to the zoo a lot, so maybe that's it.

If all goes according to plan, I'll be watching all three girls overnight in a couple of weeks. Mom says they'll wear me out. I'm taking duct tape and Children's Tylenol, so I think I'll be fine.

And, in the category of aging as a fun family activity, I have gray hair. I was sitting with Mom in the front yard and Carrie was standing behind me and she spotted one.

Mom baffled over this because she didn't start getting gray hair until her forties and here I am only twenty-nine. Of course, I helpfully pointed out that she'd been coloring her hair since she was sixteen so she really couldn't be sure about that.

Next thing I know, Carrie, Mom, and all three girls are picking through my hair like monkeys looking for bugs trying to find gray hairs.

Apparently, I have a lot of them.

I can't imagine why.
